Sutradhar
Puppetry in Modern Times
My Role : Narrative and Scenography

We designers hold a lot of power in creating impact. Suthradhar was a theatrical curation of global perspective on the impact of geo-political turmoil across the world.

The performance talked about a conversation between a personified war puppet and a little child, where the child asks war about its appeal and actions. Bewildered by the child’s questions in the end war losses its purpose and shreds the negativity by absorbing the innocence and goes to play with the child.

The entrance was structured and complimented by light and sound in such a way that made the audience feel the tension, fear, chaos and claustrophobia through the scenography. It was executed through panels of plastic and coloured cloth growing into them, enveloping the feeling that one goes through in the war.

Innocence is the ray of hope that brightens the smoggy dark path with light and brightness.
